Haflong Tourism

The breathtakingly beautiful land of Haflong is often called as the 'Switzerland of the East'. This is known for being the only hill station in Assam state.  It stands 680 m from the sea level and remains a priceless wonder of nature at its best. Temperature remains heart pleasing here all year long and thus, travellers can visit here during any part of the year.

Attractions of Haflong
Haflong’s natural scenic exquisiteness grabs attention of all from far and wide. Here you will be thrilled by rolling mists and beautiful clouds kissing from the above. Haflong Lake here remains a must visit place due to its celestial splendour. Travellers can enjoy boating here apart from visiting Garampani, a hot-water spring.

Here you will also find a tiny town named Maibang edging the bank of the river Diyun. The town has great historical significance as it is the old capital of the kingdom of the Kachari rulers. Here you can explore a 12th century monolithic Ramchandi Temple which captures the admiration of visitors with its two-roofed temple structure. Many ruins of stone carvings and sculptures of the kingdom can still be seen dotted around the district of Haflong.

Another must visit place near Haflong is Jatinga, situated 9 km away. Jatinga is the District Head Quarter of North Cachar Hills. The place is known for the bird mystery as it is said that birds are committing suicide here. Visit here from August to November and explore the views of splendid bird species.

Adventure lovers can also take the pleasure of numerous adventure activities here like Gliding, Para-gliding and Trekking. Experiencing these activities in its beautiful setting is no less than a dream. Also, mingle with local tribes residing here. Many ethnic groups like the Dimasa, Biates, Karbis, and Thadu Kukies tribes still reside in and around Haflong.

By Rail: Lumding Junction Railway Station, 60 km away, is the closest railhead.
