Attractions

Nohkalikai Falls: This remains the most visited destination in Cherrapunji. The waterfalls look stunning cascading from a height of 1115 feet. Nohkalikai Falls is the fourth highest in the world and attracts numerous vacationers to enjoy a day picnic amidst its unspoiled beauty. The waterhole here looks blue in color during winters and green during summer.

Mawsmai Cave: Mawsmai Cave offers you a thrilling experience amidst darkness. You can take a walk through this, crawl, squeeze and try to fit as you move forward. The cave is visited by numerous explorers who fall in love with the detailing of the formations and patters found here.    

Dainthlen Falls: Dainthlen Falls is 5 km from the city and has an ancient legend associated with it. It is believed that people of this place once killed a snake. The rock carvings found here look like snake and represent the symbols of evil. The place is electric and looks awe-inspiring due to its matchless view.   

Thangkharang Park: This Park, 12 km from the city, is perfect for whole family fun. It rests on a cliff, offering 180 degree views of the Bangladesh plains along with the seventh highest waterfalls, the Kynrem Falls. The Khoh Ramhah rock here also captures the attention of all. This is a huge rock which resembles with an overturned basket of massive size. There is also a play area for kids.

Living Root Bridge
Meghalaya's double-decker and single-decker root bridges are known for their beautiful outlook. These natural bridges are made of massive thick roots tangled together. A beautiful stream flows at the bottom. The root bridge can carry weight of fifty or more people at a time.

By Air: Guwahati airport is the nearest major airport to Cherrapunji. It is 181 km from the city.
By Rail: Guwahati is the nearest railhead to Cherrapunji.
By Road: Travelers can take a bus for Cherrapunji from the Sohra Bus Stand in the Bara Bazaar area of Shillong.
