Kalimpong Tourism

Kalimpong is a tiny hill station in the northern part of Darjeeling district of West Bengal.  The town is all about breathtaking mountains, flourishing gardens and shimmering lakes. People visit here to explore unmatched hues of nature all around dotted with historical temples and tiny monasteries.

Attractions

Deolo Hill: This is the highest point of the town of Kalimpong at a height of around 1700 m. The hills have three reservoirs of fresh water which provide water to the town. From here you can catch vistas of valleys, rivers and rustic villages. It also has a recreational park apart from activities like paragliding, horse riding and trekking.

Dr. Graham’s Home: Dr. Graham’s home lies on lower steep of Deolo Hills. The place was built by Sir Anderson Graham of England in the 1900s. The complex is sprawling over an area of 550 acres. Here vocational programs in farming, baking, dairy management, clothing, medication, etc. are offered.

Kalimpong Cactus Nursery: Kalimpong Cactus Nursery is home to some of the rarest varieties of cactus plants which look jaw dropping. The nursery has a beautiful surrounding and is adorned with a thick network of trees and hills. It is a great place for nature lovers to enjoy an array of exotic colorful flowers.

Zong Dog Palri Fo Brang Gompa: This is a prehistoric Buddhist monastery raised under the guidance of Dalai Lama in the year 1975. It lies on the Durpin Hill and remains one of the holiest religious centers among Buddhism followers. The monastery features beautiful Buddhist architecture and sculptured walls and looks incredible due to its surroundings.

Crockety: Crockety is a heritage British cottage raised during the colonial rule in India. This architectural wonder has stunning gardens and lush green lawns. It was once a hub of wool merchants who used to visit here from all over the world. Do not forget to bring your camera here to capture amazing views of nature.  

How to Reach:
By Air: Kalimpong does not have its own airport and the closest airport is Bagdogra airport in Siliguri. 
By Rail: The nearest railway station to Kalimpong is New Jalpaiguri.
By Road: Regular bus services connect Kalimpong with Gangtok and Siliguri.
