It was in 1981 that Ranthambore was declared as a National Park.

Touring the Ranthambore National Park is a journey in itself, as the Park is dotted with numerous structures that recite the story of the past. A wonder of the Chauhan dynasty, the Ranthambore Fort was initiated under the rule of King Sapaldaksha in 944 AD. Another major attraction of the park is the Trinetra Ganesh Temple, which is popular among the Hindu pilgrims. Dedicated to the entire family of Lord Ganesha, this temple was built by King Hammer. With five aartis held every day, the temple remains soaked in spirituality.
