The chants of devotional hymns, and the drum sound will make you feel like being in another world.
Another popular tourist spot here is the Bharat Mandir, built in the 9th century. It is believed to be the oldest temple built by Adi Shankaracharya. The temple is situated near Triveni Ghat. Lord Vishnu is the main deity of the temple who rests in the inner chambers of the temple. Basant Panchami, the famous colourful spring festival, is celebrated here with full zeal drawing tourists in huge number from far and wide.
Another extremely popular site among tourists, especially foreigners, is the Swarga Ashram situated on the eastern bank of the Ganges. The ashram complex houses ancient temples adorned with beautiful statues. Tourists can buy various things such as religious tapes, books, beads, beaded garlands, shells from the shops here.
Another popular attraction here is the Lakshman Jhula, which is a 450 feet long suspended iron bridge. Built in the year 1939, the bridge is 2 kms away from Swarga Ashram, and has temples at both the sides. The most famous temple here is the Lakshman Temple at Tapovan. Ram Jhula is another suspended iron bridge constructed over the Ganges River. Among its many ashrams, Geeta Bhavan and Swarga Ashram are most popular.

By Air: At 21 kms, Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airport to Rishikesh. From there, regular bus services are available. The option of hiring a taxi is also there.
By Rail: Haridwar is the nearest railway station. One can take a bus or hire taxis to reach Rishikesh.
By Road: There are good roads and national highways connecting Rishikesh to major parts of Uttarakhand and north Indian states. Regular, deluxe and luxurious coaches are available from Delhi’s ISBT Kashmiri Gate.
