Thommankuthu Waterfalls is another major attraction of Idukki. This scenic waterfall has a dark past, as people say there was once a tribal named Thomman who fell into the waterfall, therefore the name. This seven step waterfall allows adventure tourism. Other activities include bathing and trekking.
Another popular attraction is the Idukki Arch Dam. Built across the river and located between two hills, the Idukki Dam is one of the highest arch dams in Asia and third tallest arch dam. This dam was constructed along with two other dams at Cheruthoni and Kulamavu. Together, the three dams have created an artificial lake.
A popular hill station, Thrissanku Hills is well known for its virgin walking trails. It is a great scenic spot to enjoy the beauty of nature. Other things one can enjoy from the hill include Diwan’s residence, Mausoleum of Sufi Saint and a summer palace.

Idukki can be visited throughout the year, except the rainy season. However, the winter season is considered as the best season to explore Idukki.

By Air – Kochi airport is the nearest airport to Idukki. It is an international airport from where you can get domestic and international flights easily.
By Train – Theni is the nearest railway station in Idukki and Changanacherry is also a nearby station which offers regular train services.
By Road – Roads here are smooth and well connected with various other major cities such as Ooty, Kodaikanal, Munnar, and Coimbatore.
