History
It has an interesting past which fascinates all visitors. Legend says that Gautam Buddha often visited this place at the Jivankamaravana Monastery in a calm setting. Earlier this place was known names like Rajgriha, Barad Rathapura, Girivraja and Vasumati. The place also has association with the son of Brahma, Vasu who created the historic Girivraja. Moreover, it is linked with Brihadratha and Jarasandha.

Vishwa Shanti Stupa: Raised by the Japanese at the top of the Ratnagiri hill at a height of 400 m above sea level, Vishwa Shanti Stupa remains the main draw of Rajgir. It is frequented by many travellers from various parts of the planet.

Griddhakuta: This site was loved by Gautam Buddha as he gave many lessons here after attaining enlightenment. To reach the top of Ratnagiri hill, a ropeway is available here.

Pippala Cave: Rock-cut Cave in Rajgir is above hot springs on the Vaibhava Hill in close proximity to Rajgir, Pippala Cave is believed to be a site of godliness during the time of Gautam Buddha.

Karanda Tank: It is the place where Gautam Buddha used to take bath during his visit to Rajgir. Today the tank is in ruins but reflects the superb past of the Mauryas and structural beauty.
