Nameri National Park

Nameri National Park is a popular national park resting in the foothills of the eastern Himalayas in Assam. This is the second tiger reserve of Assam. It was declared a National Park in 1998. It is counted among the richest home to some of the rarest plants and animals in the world. Visit here and spot some unseen species of birds, mammals and reptiles. The park is home to over 370 bird species, including both migratory as well as resident birds.

Nameri National Park is known for being home to the White-winged wood duck. Here you can also discover a good population of elephants.

The floral wealth of Nameri National Park is unmatched. It has a pleasing ecosystem with numerous varieties of trees, including Bombax ceiba, Sterculia villosa, Trewia nudiflora, Dalbergia sisoo, Zizyphus jujuba, Litsaea polyantha, etc. Also spot non-aquatic grassland species like Arundo donax, Phragmites karka, Imperata cylindrical and Saccarum.

Nameri National Park has a rich fauna. Take a jeep safari here and explore sights of numerous wild animals like Tiger, Black bear, elephant, Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Indian Bison, Pangolin, etc. Bird species of the park is also impressive with some endangered species like white winged wood duck.

The most exciting part of the park remains river rafting which takes you close to the nature sprawling here. Trekkers can partake in Nameri Wildlife Trekking which takes them deep into the world of wild. Apart from this, Elephant Safari and Boat Safari are also available in the park.

Best time to visit
The best time of the year to visit the Nameri National Park is between the months of November to May. This is the time when wild animals roam around freely enjoying jovial sun.
