Tura, Meghalaya

NameriTura is a peaceful hilly town resting unexplored in the Garo Hills of Meghalaya. Nokrek National Park
Nokrek National Park here flourishes with abundance of flora and fauna. The park is 12km from the town and acts home to the rarest animals and trees species. Most of the terrain here is hilly in nature. As most of the important rivers flow through it, the amount of nature sprawling here is matchless. Nokrek National Park was declared a National Park in the year of 1986. Thereafter, in 2009 UNESCO added this park to its list of Biosphere Reserves.

The Park is home to numerous animals, including the red-panda, Asian elephant, stump tailed macaque, tiger, marbled cat, Hoolock Gibbons, Capped Langur, etc. The Park is known for running many programs for the conservation of wildlife. Here forestry, poaching, hunting and grazing are strictly prohibited. Travelers visit here for some moments of serenity and immediately fall in love with its wildlife.

Best time to visit
The best time to explore the charms of the Nokrek National Park is between the months of October to May. Weather remains pleasant during these months and is apt to enjoy beautiful vistas of flora and fauna all around.
