Ambikapur Tourism

Ambikapur city is situated in the Surguja district of Chhattisgarh, and is considered as a bustling town of the state. The city also houses the headquarters of the district within its premises. Attractions

One of the popular attractions of Ambikapur is Tattapani, which is a continuously flowing hot water spring that flows with same force and quantity throughout the year. Suitable for curing various skin diseases, the spring of Tattapani is located in the Surguja District and is towards the north-east of Ambikapur.

Another popular attraction of Ambikapur is Ramgarh and Sita Bengra, which are considered as the sacred spots situated in north Surguja District. These spots are believed to be the places where, Sita and Rama spent their period of 14 years in exile. Sita-Bengra is situated towards the north of the city and is considered to be the home of Sita. 

Mahamaya Temple is another popular attraction of Ambikapur. The temple was built by the King Ratansen of the Kalachuri Dynasty in 1050 AD, and is situated towards the east of Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh. The main deity of the temple is the Goddess Durga, and the temple is well-maintained by a body of organized administrators. Sidh Shakti Peeth Shri Mahamaya Devi Mandir Trust is engaged in supervising the financial and managerial activities in the temple.

Jogimara Caves located in the Surguja District of Chhattisgarh are among the major attractions of the place. There are many paintings of animals, human beings, birds and flowers on these caves. Each painting is painted on the white base plaster with a red outline. Tourists can find certain inscriptions on the walls of these caves, which could be counted as the world's first messages of love. These messages depict the intense love story between Devadutta and Sutnuka.
