Pachmarhi is the only hill station in Madhya Pradesh, and is blanketed in lush greenery. Adding a completely different flavor to this central state, Pachmarhi is mostly visited by tourists during the summer and monsoon season. The fact that Pachmarhi has been recognized as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve makes the place an asset to Madhya Pradesh tourism. The beautiful hill station also boasts of housing one of the tallest waterfalls in India, and ancient caves that were once inhabited by the Pandavas.

Attractions

One of the must visit attractions of Pachmarhi is the Rajat Prapat or Big Fall, which is Pachmarhi’s tallest waterfall. The waterfall is amongst the best sightseeing places in Pachmarhi. Cascading straight into the gorge in the form of a narrow yet breathtaking silver streak, the waterfall looks quite a sight to behold.

Another beautiful waterfall here is the Bee Fall, also known as the Jamuna Falls, which is reckoned to be one of the best tourist attractions here. Apart from offering picturesque view to the tourists and being amongst the popular nature sightseeing places, this waterfall is also the source of drinking water for the locals.

Pandav Caves are five rock-cut temples inside the town of Pachmarhi. One of the major attractions of Pachmarhi, the history of these caves dates back to 1st century AD. The caves are simple but attractive and have uncomplicated carvings. One of the caves even has echo effect. Pandav Caves are certainly the prime places for tourism in Pachmarhi.
Another popular attraction here is the Handi Khoh, which is a point en route Chauragarh that offers incredible view of a 100m gorge with 300m towering cliffs. As per the locals, there was once a lake here which dried off and the place came to be known as Andhi Khoh, later renamed as Handi Khoh, due to its shape. This place is ideal for nature lovers and those seeking some solitude.

Duchess Fall is also a major attraction among the tourists. Tucked away in forest, the small yet pretty loking waterfall is something that you would want to witness with your better half. The water from the fall accumulates in a shallow pond by which you can sit and spend some time enjoying the beauty of the place.

Best time to visit Pachmarhi
Pachmarhi is a destination which can be visited all around the year. However, October to June is the best season to visit the place. The weather remains cool & pleasant during this time and is perfect for sightseeing.

How to reach Pachmarhi
By Air – Bhopal and Jabalpur airport serves as the nearest airports to Pachmarhi. Connecting flights till Bhopal or Jabalpur from other Indian cities including Raipur, Hyderabad and Amhedabad can also be availed.
By Train – Pipariya is the railhead situated at a distance of 47 km from Pachmarhi, and is on the foremost line to Mumbai – Howrah. Pipariya is linked to main Indian conurbations like Mumbai’s Mahanagari Exp, Kolkata Mail, Chennai’s Gangakaveri Exp, Bangalore’s Sangha Mitra Exp. and Delhi’s Jbp Ndls Sup Exp.
By Road – The city is also well linked with some of the major cities of India. Frequent bus services are obtainable from Pachmarhi to different parts of the state.
